21st century is the century of ocean.There is an intense popular interest in exploiting oceanic resources,especially in offshore oil and gas resources which has profound significance to economic development.The advanced remote sensing techniques of detecting offshore oil and gas resources,Which have been used in foreign countries,and the geological synthetic methods of analyses have been discussed in this paper.The basic characteristics of oil and gas reserves and the feasibility of using remote sensing technique to exploit offshore oil and gas fields have been concluded,and the authors point out that it is an important application for remote sensing technique to be used in offshore oil and gas exploration.
