In order to explore the possible presence of carboxylic acids in fluid inclusions of minerals,the carboxylic compositions in leachates from quartz,fluorite,barite,sphalerite,galena,pyrite,chalcopyrite and magnetite from some gold,tungsten,iron,fluorite,barite and polymetallic mines were determined by ion chromatography. The analysis data showed that oxalate was present in leachates from all minerals listed above,and small amount of acetate and/or formate was also found in some leachates.It was inferred that the carboxylic acids detected in the leachates of the present study were from fluid inclusions in minerals.
