In this paper, the equations governing the transient response of a multi-dimensional ablative thermal protection system are presented for the case of thermal non equilibrium between the pyrolysis gases and the char layer. The governing equations and boundary conditions are transformed into a moving coordinate system, thed solved numerically using the modified implicite method and the explicit Dufort-Frankel finite difference scheme. In compare with the exact solution, it is showed that the nnumerical analysis is reliable. Some numerical results are given for the simplied cases.
