鄂粳杂１号具有产量优势明显。抗病性强，米质优。易脱粒等特点。从１９９２年起在省内外试种。示范，一般每公顷产量７５００ｋｇ左右，比对照增产１０％以上。繁殖制种产量高，符合商品化生产的要求，预计在长江中下游地区有良好的应用前景。至１９９５年累计推广种植１３３３３．３３ｈｍ２，增产稻谷１０００ｋｇ，创社会效益１４００万元。“八五”期间，已纳入国家“８６３计划”重大成果转化项目。
