Economic ministers from 10 East Asiancountries opened talks in Chiang Rai, Thailandon February 15 aimed at reaching a jointstrategy for the region ahead of next month’sAsia-Europe summit. The ministers agreed thatthe 10 Asian countries should present a commonface when their leaders meet their 15 Europeancounterparts in Bangkok from March 1-2.
