Radical Ideal and the Dream of the Century──the 20th Century's Cultrual Background of the Literature of the Post Cultural Revolution Period

新时期作为意识形态的概念其内涵是相对历史而言的，作为新时期表意形式的新时期文学，尽管充分表达了它的功能特征，但它在文化层面与百年文化传统仍密切相关，公共话语是它的主要表达形式。百年文化传统的弥散和延宕在这一时代的文学中有鲜明的承传关系。“体用论”的华夏中心主义独尊心态是实用的，而对“他者”认同的取向同样隐含着功利用意。因此，试图在文化层面解决富国强民是远远不够的，同时它也超出了文学能够有所作为的范畴。激进的理想并未完全实现世纪之梦的期许。

As an ideological concept, the connotation of the post Cultural Revolution period (or called the New Period)is relative to history. As a form of expression of the New Period, the literature of this period is closely related with the cultural tradition of the pasthundred years as far as its cultural aspect is concerned, although the literature has demonstrated its functional characteristics to a great extent. Public discourse is its main form ofexpression. The dissemination and dispersion of the cultural tradition his obviously inherited in the literature of this era. The mentality of the China-centered theory of using theknowledge of the west without violating the basic structure of Chinese knowledge (' TiYong Lun') is very practical. Its functional objective is embedded under the superficialrecognition of 'the Other'. Therefore the attempt of solving the political and economicproblems of China at the cultural level is far from enough. At the same time it has alsosurpassed the limit of the practicality of literature. The radical ideal has not totally realized the dream of the century.
