世界正在进入一个多样性、多极、多中心或多元的时代。为适应时代的需要,从系统科学中发展出来的系统哲学不应是一元论或二元论,而应是多元论,是一种新型的进化的多元论。这里的“元”是相对独立的元素或变量的意思。二元论是多元论的特例,一元论是对多元论的偏执,均应弃置。系统哲学对世界的解释是“一分为多”。

The world is just getting into a time of diversity, multipolar, multicenter or multiele-ment. In order to fit in with the needs of the time, system philosophy developed from system science should be of neither monism nor dualism but a pluralism; it is, however, a new type of evolutionary pluralism. The 'elements' here mean relatively independent elements or variables. The dualism is a special case and monism is a bigoted of pluralism and thus both must be discarded. The systems philosophy gives the world an explanation 'one divides into many' or 'one divides into N(0<N(?)∞).
