As a representative of the famous French ballet school, Gilbert Mayer has devoted himself almost whole life time to the world - famous Paris Opera Ballet.Born and started his ballet training in Geneva, Gilbert Mayer entered the Paris Opera Ballet in 1948, there he received extensive training and graduated as the best student. In 1955 he was promoted to the 5th grade (highest grade) ballet dancer, and in 1961 appointed as the leading soloist, hence he has played most roles in the major ballet classics. On account of his outstanding achievements, he was engaged as a faculty member of the Dance School affiliated to the Paris Opera, also lecturing in many ballet schools and companies such as: the British Royal Ballet. Royal Academy of Dancing in London, Ballet National de Marseille (Roland PETIT), Ballet Lausanne (BEJART), Ballet de Hambourg (John NEUMIER), the London Festival Ballet, Australian Ballet. Norwegian National Ballet, etc.In 1985 he was appointed director of Dance School affiliated to the Geneva Music Conservatory.In order to widespread the influence of French ballet, he was nominated in 1994 as Conseiller Technical of French Association of Artistic Action Artistic Mission (by French Ministry of Foreign Affairs) as well as director of the Dance Academy de Paris.Gilbert Mayer has been awarde Prix Distinction and 1 order National des Arts and Lettres et Cheyalier des Palmes Academiques.
