The concepts and characters of Josephson vortices are described based on direct calculations on Josephson junctions and Josephson￣-junction arrays.There are essential and important differences between such vortices and Abrikosov vortices in type Ⅱ superconductors.As a consequence vortex pinning may not be the correct mechanism for the intergranular critical state in Josephson-junction systems.
