There is a long history of failure in international cooperation in medical equip-ment technology.IFMBE and JSMEBE have made great efforts to remedy the situa-tion.Recently,JSMEBE is asked by Japanese Goverment to provide a guideline forthe activities.A committee was formed for 3 years,and as a result of extensive sur-vey studies by questionaries,interviews and correspondences,the final guideline waspublished (in Japanese) March 1993.It is available on request,and English transla-
