摘要
要说汕头市的供水历史,并不算短,本世纪初前清举人高绳芝创办汕头自来水股份有限公司,1910年开工建设阉埠水厂,1914年正式开机送水。自此,汕头自动供水拉开了历史的序幕。然而,自那时起到1978年,时间向前推移了60多个年头,汕头市自来水的发展却步履蹒珊,艰难缓慢。初时,日均供水量为0.32万立方米,1949年为0.5万立方米。1964年,汕头市自来水公司建成投产了日产1万立方米的车墩水厂,并于1968年对阉埠水厂进行改造,日均供水能力增至1.6万立方米。此后,两座水厂虽然进行了多次扩建和技术改造,至1978年,日均供水量也只达6万立方米。

Now the corporation has three water plants with daily water supply capacity of 520,000 cubic metres and a staff of 768.It also has transport and distribution water pip- ing network with the diameter of above 75 millimetre and the total length of 420.45 kilo- metres and include 10 sections,4 water sup- ply administrative departments,fittings plant,installation engineering corporation, service corporation and so on.
