摘要
I Introduction ZnSe, which has a wide band gap as well as a large nonlinear optical effect, is a key material for optical bistability device with room temperature excitonic effect and fast respond speed. In 1989, we observed at 77 K, for the first time, the optical bistability in Znse-ZnS/CaF2 strained-layer superlattices(SLS), and presently we observed the optical bistability with picosecond switching time at room temperature in ZnSe-ZnTe SLS. In 1988, Yokogawa reported low-loss short-wavelength optical ridge waveguides using ZnSe-ZnS SLS, which is useful for a polarizing optical device, indicating that the optical nonlinearities of ZnSe have broad prospects of application. The optical bistability
