Ruoergai Plateau (32°20′—34°10′, 102°15′—103°50′), 3600m above sea level, is located in the eastern part of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau. It is the major region in China for high-altitude peat deposition with thickness that varies from 2—3m to over 10m.
