"Transcendence of Death" and Its Meaning to Life

人难免一死,但只有直面和超越死亡,才能彰显生命的意义。综观中西方超越死亡的观念,无论是西方的"灵魂不灭"论,还是中国的"三不朽"观,都给人以最深层次的生命关怀。而庄子哲学更以超脱的智慧让人体味到生死相通的本质,从而能以坦然、平静、豁达的胸襟对待死亡、超越死亡。

All people are mortal and only when one can face and transcend death can he demonstrate the meaning of life.Both Chinese and Western ideas of death,including the western 'immortality of the soul' and the Chinese 'Immortality of virtue,deed and theory' give human individuals the deepest concern and comfort.What is particularly noteworthy is Chuang-tzu's philosophy and detached wisdom which enables people to experience the communication between life and death and remain calm,tranquil,and philosophical in the face of death and then transcend death.
