Profoundness out of Simplicity——An Appreciation of the Lyric Poem,“Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”

《雪夜林畔》是美国抒情诗人罗伯特·弗罗斯特的一首抒情诗.诗歌清晰地勾画出雪夜里单人驻马凝视飞雪林中的图景.由于要履行诺言,主人公不得不继续他的行程.诗歌描写的情景简单,语言平易,但读者决不会体会不到诗人所要表现诗中人物的内心冲突;是欣赏大自然的美景呢还是完成自己的使命?

“Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”by American lyric poet Robert Frost is a lpric poem in iambic tetrameter quatrains.The poem draws a clear and plain scene of a man with his horse stopping to watch someone's woods fill up with snow at twilight and then continuing his journey because of his promises.Simple as the event and language of the poem are,any reader would not fail to sense the deep inner conflict of the man,or mankind,i.e.to enjoy the beauty of nature,or to fuitill his mission.
