Background of Confucian ethics of traditional Chinese medical morality——the third disscussion on traditional Chinese medical morality and culture

由于中国传统医学和其医家处在儒学独尊的社会背景下,又由于传统医德与儒学在价值指向上的某些同构性,所以,儒学对传统医德产生了极大的影响,这些影响的积极作用表现在——对道德作用的推崇,仁者爱人的泛爱众思想,对君子理想人格的追求,强调道德修养重自觉等方面。其影响的消极方面表现在——封建孝道对尸体解剖的影响、男女授受不亲对女病人诊治带来的困难等方面。

Chinese traditional medicine and its practioners existed in a society which showed exclusive reverence for Confucianism. Moreover, traditional medical ethics was in partial agreement with Confucianism on value assessment. Confucianism thus exerted great influence upon traditional medical ethics. The The positive side was demonstrated in such aspects as high esteem for moral strength, the idea of universal love of the benevolents, pursuit of noble character and emphasis on conscious moral cultivation and so forth. The negative influence was exhibited in restriction on autopsy owing to fdudal filial piety, and in difficulty in treating female patients arising from forbidding bodily touch between different sexes, etc.
