The harmonic characteristics of the multi-sequence current filters and the interference of the filters with the protecting relay units are analyzed. It is shown that the harmonic characteristics of the filters will seriously affect the correct operation of some types of protecting relays. Details of the refusing operation and mal-operation of the phase difference high frequency protection due to the harmonics interference are also given.
