On January 5 to 10,National Energy Conference was held.At thisconference,Huang Yicheng,Minister of Energy,revealed the develop-ment goals and strategy of the energy industry,and called upon China’smore than 10 million energy staff and workers to “go all out” in boostingthe country’s energy production,so as to ensure a steady economicdevelopment in the new decade.In 1989,China’s energy production and construction continued towitness new achievements and records.The total output of primary energyhit 1 billion tons of standard coal,up 4.8% from 1988,among which,theoutput of raw coal totalled 1.03 billion tons,increased by 60 million tons,up 6% from 1988;the crude oil output reached 137.6 million tons
