This article is an introduction to Ezra Pound's poetics——'Ideogrammic Method' , an exposition of its formation and its relation with the Chinese written character and the Oriental poetry. It expounds and proves that 'Ideogrammic Method' is the continuation and expansion of pound's earlier 'Imagism' and 'Vorticism' , a method of science. In studying British and American modern and contemporary poetry, Pound's poetics——his Ideogrammic Method can not be ignored.
