As an official for several decades in Emperor Kangxi's reign,Yu Chenglong,the gover- nor-general of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces,had been honest and upright in perform- ing his duties.In his term of office he could promote what was beneficial and abolish what was harmful.For this reason,he won the Emperor's approval and was acclaimed by the Emperor as the“first honest official under heaven.”
