There is a special kind of tensile relationship between philosophy and politics. The attitude toward the relationship will certainly exert influences on the understanding of the value of philosophy and the role of philosophers. In terms of this issue, this article explores the public role of philosophers on the basis of the study of the homogeneity and heterogeneity and the roots of the conflicts between philosophy and politics.
