This paper probes several documents that are still considered as important historical resources about the history of the CPC nowadays - Chen Tanqiu's "Memories of the First Congress of the CPC", Gesa Korolyov's "Early Revolutionary Activities of the CPC", and the letter from Dong Biwu to He Shuheng (December 31, 1929). Through discussion, we will see that the translation, collation and compilation of historical data are deeply influenced by ideology after the establishment of the PRC. Therefore, what the research of the first Congress of the CPC needs in the future is not textual criticism of existing data, but documentology that fully appropriates data content and data generation process.
