摘要
环境启示录小说最初出现在19世纪维多利亚时期。作为环境文学和启示录文学的结合体,该类型小说最初带有较强的宗教性,并预示着新天新地的诞生。然而,伴随着19世纪后期的世俗化过程和进化论的盛行,环境启示录小说承载的意义发生了巨大的变化。尤其在进入20世纪之后,该类型小说日趋发展成为生态预警小说、生态反乌托邦小说或核灾难小说等一系列生态批评书写。本文即从环境启示录小说出现的历史语境、流变及时代意义这三个方面梳理该类型小说出现的前因后果。
The Environmental Apocalyptic Novels first gained its appearance in Victorian era.As a combination of environmental literature and apocalyptic narratives,this genre of fiction was given a strong religious implication in its early writings,which foretold the rebirth of a New Heaven and a New Earth.However,along with the process of secularization and the popularization of Darwin's theory of evolution, the implications of this genre was narrowed down to Eschatology.As a consequence,the environmental apocalyptic novels had developed into the following categories as it stepped into the 20th century: the ecological apocalyptical novels,the eco-dystopian novels,the nuclear holocaust novels and etc. This essay is aimed at analyzing the social contexts of this genre faction,its development,and its social significance.
