"黑"是龚贤晚年绘画的主要特征,也是龚贤最具代表性的艺术特色。画史上对此一直有"黑龚"和"白龚"之别,用以区分龚贤前后期画风从清逸到浑厚的变化。但这只是笔墨形式外在的表现,在内在精神意蕴上,则没有"黑"和"白"之别。龚贤晚年的遗民情感从故国之思向生命情怀转化,他的绘画,他的诗,都是对这份情怀的表达。

The 'Black' is the main characteristics of Gong Xian's later years painting.It is also the most representative features of Gong Xian's art.Art history has been made a difference on the 'black gong' and 'white gong' to distinguish the changes of Gong Xian's painting styles from elegant to vigorous during the earlier and later years of his paintings.However,this was only the external form of the performance of ink;there was no black and white difference when considered the spiritual meaning.The emotion of the Adherents of Gong Xian in his old age went through a process of change from cherishing the homeland memory of past times to the reflecting on the meaning of life.His poems and paintings were the expression of such emotion.
