随着改革的不断深入和社会主义市场经济体制的逐步建立,国内和国际的竞争日趋激烈,对企业、高等院校、科研院所的生存和发展提出了新的挑战。目前中国技术落后的原因不仅仅是研究性人才的匮乏,创新能力比较强的第一线技术性应用人才也十分短缺。这为地方高校服务经济社会发展提供了契机并提出了更高的期望。作为改革的新生事物,独立学院在培养应用型人才方面具有得天独厚的条件,同时也存在一些亟待解决的问题。发挥自身优势,加大教学与课程改革力度,加强应用型创新人才的培养是独立学院今后发展的必然之路。

With the deepening of reform and the gradual foundation of Socialist market economy system,the competition for talents at home and abroad grows intensely day by day,which has imposed new challenges for enterprises,colleges and scientific research institutes.Now China is still lagging in technology,not only because of the lack of research-typed talents but also because of the severe shortage of practical talents with strong innovation capacity.This backdrop creates a chance with increasing expectations for provincial colleges to serve our economic and social development.The independent college,a newly-born entity due to reform,has some unique superiorities as well as pressing problems in cultivating practical talents.Therefore,the surest path to the development of the independent college is to bring its own superiorities into full play,to strengthen the teaching and course reform and to enhance the cultivation of practical and creative talents.
