摘要
以改革开放以来出现的汉语文化负载新词为例,探讨纽马克语义翻译和交际翻译理论应用于其英译的可行性,指出为了保留中国汉语文化负载新词的特点、准确传播中国特色文化,在对汉语文化负载新词进行英译时,应首先考虑采用语义翻译策略,只有当运用语义翻译策略会产生译语读者理解困难、引起交际误解时,才考虑使用交际翻译策略。
This paper,taking Chinese culturally-loaded neologisms emerging after the reform and opening-up of China for example,intends to probe into the applicability of Newmark's semantic and communicative translation theory of their English translation,and concludes that in order to preserve the features of Chinese culturally-loaded neologisms,as well as accurately spread Chinese unique culture,in the process of translating them into English,translator should consider semantic translation strategies as the first choice.Only when the use of semantic translation will produce communicative difficulties or misunderstandings,communicative translation should be adopted.
