Based on interpersonal meaning in Systemic-Functional Linguistics, this paper makes a study on Direct Speech in lvy Day, in the Committee Room. The analysis shows that the writer expresses his comment through the characters＇ speaking and his attitude towards events and characters, discovering the relationship between writer, reader and character, thereby realizing interpersonal meaning of the text.
