Comparative Study on the Two English Versions of Story of "Old Tippler's Pavilion"

欧阳修的《醉翁亭记》是文学领域难得的瑰宝,翻译它的文章可谓层出不穷。文章借用奈达的"动态对等"和"形式对等"理论,从词义对等、节奏对等和功能对等的角度比较杨宪益和翟里斯两个译本的优劣,从而验证这个理论在翻译散文这种特殊文体上的适用性和在翻译批评领域不可忽视的作用。

Ouyang Xiu＇s ＂Story of Old Tippler＇s Pavilion＂ is a great prose.The translation versions are coming in thick and fast.By using the dynamic equivalence and formal equivalence suggested by Nida,from the perspective of the equivalence of the meaning of a word,rhythm and functional,this paper intends to compare the merits and demerits of the different two English versions of Yang Xianyi and Horis in order to indicate that the equivalence plays a important role in translation criticism.
