As one of the early comedies in Shakespeare＇s plays, The Comedy of Errors imitated the story of Plautus＇ play Menaechni. Some critics believe that it is only a recreational play and shows a lack of thoughts. This article aims to analyze the relationship between the city of Ephesus, exorcism and selfhood, pointing out that Shakespeare had already expressed his talent in his early career.
