"家庭女教师"作为特定的文学形象,频繁出现于维多利亚时期的英国小说当中,并且发展成一个不容忽视的"形象系列",这种现象的产生决非偶然,而是一个值得探讨的话题。本文从历史的角度出发,用开放的视角重新解读萨克雷的《名利场》和夏绿蒂.勃朗特的《简.爱》,探究维多利亚时期英国小说中频繁出现"家庭女教师"形象的社会根源,发掘"家庭女教师"职业对人物性格和命运产生的不同作用。

The image of ＂governess＂ is continually appeared in the English literature works of Victorian period,and becomes a tendency of a series of representative roles.This kind of phenomena does not take out in accident,it＇s a topic that deserves to discuss.By doing the investigation in the two classical novels,the thesis makes an attempt to discuss the historical background of these＂governess＂images and analyses the profound implications which these ＂governess＂ images contain in Victorian novels.
