摘要 该文根据Smith给预测下的定义以及作预测的三个主要原因,探讨了预测在初中英语阅读教学中的必要性及其对理解的作用,并从外语教育心理学和外语教育学等方面对预测与理解的关系加以论证,补充说明了Goodman所描述的"阅读是一种心理语言的猜测活动",验证了预测是理解的基础、预测是阅读的核心这一阐述的正确性。 Based on the definition given by Frank Smith in regard to prediction and his analysis of the three major reasons of the need for prediction,the paper is aimed to discuss the necessity and significance of prediction in the reading process in the junior secondary school classroom teaching and verify the correlation between prediction and comprehension from the psychological and educational points of view.The paper also replenishes Kenneth Goodman's statement that 'Reading is psycho-lingual guessing game' and proves that prediction is the basis of comprehension and prediction is the core of reading.
