A Preliminary Study of the American Library Association's Aid to China during the Anti-Japanese War

抗战期间,日本疯狂轰炸中国的文化机构,大量珍贵的图书资料在战乱中被毁。美国图书馆协会对中国高校、图书馆进行了援助,使战时中国得到了宝贵的书籍。虽其行为要受到美国国务院的制约,但在某种程度上达到了中美文化交流的目的,同时也反映了美国的国家利益。

During the anti-Japanese war,as a result of Japan＇s frantic bombing Chinese cultural institutions,a lot of valuable books and materials were destroyed.The American Library Association aided the Chinese universities and libraries.Though wartime China got some valuable books with the American Library Association＇s aid,the Department of State control had restricted such assistance.To some extent,the goal of the Sino-US cultural exchanges had been achieved,but America＇s aid to China also reflected the national interest of the United States.
