A Cultural Dimension to Cognitive Discourse Analysis

通过分析意象图式与文化图式在语篇中的作用,揭示了语篇的认知研究不仅要依据基于一般性、普遍性身体经验的意象图式,还要参照基于社会性、文化性群体经验的文化图式。文化图式致使跨文化交际双方在构建互通的语篇宏观结构时,常常凸现意象图式中的不同方面,使跨文化交际双方构建出形似一致、貌似连贯而意不一致、不具认知连贯性的语篇。

By comparing the roles of image schemas and cultural schemas in the production and the comprehension of intercultural communication discourse,this article reveals that both image schemas and cultural schemas should be drawn on for an in-depth analysis of discourse.Image schemas,abstracted from universal bodily experiences,give rise to the macro-structure understood by peoples of different cultures,whilst cultural schemas,developed from pervasive socio-cultural experiences,cause interactants to take different cognitive strategies to process the same discourse with cross meanings,resulting in non-coherence in the discourse.
