To discuss the controversy and existing problems of iodinated X--ray contrast medium used in clinical in order to guide the clinical use and ensure patients safety. On the basis studies of the guidelines and the direction of iodinated contrast medium, the advices were given on the necessary of hypersensitive test and how to perform the hypersensitive test. It is necessary to perform the hypersensitive test before using iodinated X--ray contrast medium according to the administra- tive laws and regulations of health of China. For ensuring the safety of patients, the hypersensitive test is needed re--authorization by the related government branch and manufacturers. The direction of iodinated X--ray contrast medium should be modified according to the results of re--authorization for clarifying the proper usage in clinical. Then the medical treatment behavior could be standard.
