Ralph Singh, the hero in The Mimic Men by Nobel Prize winner V.S.Naipaul,is an Indian descendant grown up with different ethnic groups in Isabella, the former colony of the UK.For his identification,Ralph Singh worshipped and mimicked the former metropolitan state all his life, but ended in failure and survived in the "empty London lonely".Through close reading, this paper aims to dig out the reasons of his pilgrimage failure by dealing with the "ambiguity","irony" and "paradox" at the language level of the novel.
