摘要
刘荒田,原籍广东台山。1980年移居美国。他早期专注于现代诗,曾在海峡两岸获诗奖四次。90年代中期起改写散文,观察小至唐人街大至美国社会的人生百态,感知不同灵魂的苦辣酸甜,感性地表现在中西文化碰撞与交融过程中个体生命的行为与心理。他在异国进行精神探险的同时,心系故土,回看华夏历史文化,思索我们民族的文化人格。他已在国内出版了《唐人街的桃花》、《纽约的魅力》、《听雨密西西比》等17本散文随笔集,出版诗集,有《北美洲的天空》、《旧金山抒情》等4种,其《刘荒田美国笔记》,在2009年获大陆首届＂中山杯＂华侨文学奖散文类首奖。现任旧金山美国华文文艺界协会荣誉会长,《美华文学》杂志主编。
Liu Huangtian whose land of his ancestors is TaiShan, GuangDong, migrated to USA in 1980. He early concentrated on the creation of modern potery and has won potery rewards across the Taiwan Straits four times. He turned to write the prose at the middle of the 19th century, observing various kinds of life from China Town to the whole America, perceiving the sweets and bitters of different souls ,and sensitively reflecting the behaviour and psychology of individuals in the cultural conflict and integration of Eastern and Western World.He yearns for his home land , rethinks the history and culture of Chnia,and contemplates the cultural character of the Chinese Nation. He has already published seventeen collections of essay including The Peach Blossom of Chinatown, The Attractiveness of New York, Listening to the Rain in Mississippi and four collections of poems, for instance, THe Sky of North America, Songs of my Heart in San Francisco. One of his essays, My Reflections in The U.S. Land, got the prize for prose at the first ＂Zhongshan Prize for Literature＂.Now,he is the Honorary President of CLAA and the chief editor of the Journal of American Chinese Literature.
