In the context of the "animal turn",Linda Hogan and Barbara Gowdy have created animal images respectively in their novels Power and The White Bone, and endowed these images with abundant symbolic connotation with multilayer of cultural meanings. The animal symbols convey the authors' appeal for the respect of the other, and the construction of harmony and the concern for humanity, demonstrating their unique idea of ecology.
