Ming and Qing Dynasty Slang Dictionaries and their Paraphrasing Characteristics

明清俗语辞书的释词特点可以归结为两个方面,一是以书证为主,或无释义,体现辞书编纂的"原则中心论";二是结合民俗文化、文化史进行释词,体现了语言史与文化史相结合的精神。

The characteristics of the paraphrasing of slang dictionary in Ming and Qing Dynasties can be sum up into two aspects, firstly, the dictionaries took examples as the principal things, and some dictionaries had none paraphrase, which embodied the theory of principle-centre point. Secondly, the dictionaries combined the folk culture and culture history in the work of paraphrasing, which embodied the spirit of language history combining the culture history.
