Evelyn Waugh depicted the post-world war I crisis and disorder of British society in his novel A Handful of Dust.In this novel,modern industrialized civilization destroyed the pastoral life and traditional culture,and people were faithless,spiritually empty,and morally decadent.In such an insane and preposterous world,the protagonist Tony started a hard journey searching for the ideal ecological and spiritual home,through which the writer complained the industrialized civilization intensely.
