英汉语篇中省略的对比研究

A Contrastive Study of Ellipsis in English and Chinese Discourse

在语篇衔接手段中,省略是较为重要的一个组成成分。在英汉两种语言中,省略大体上可以分为名词性省略、动词性省略和小句性省略。英汉两种语言的语篇省略形式具有一定的相似性。但是,由于汉语是以意合为主的语言,而英语则是形合为主的语言,所以英汉语言的省略现象依然存在着一些本质上的不同。本文主要论述了省略的定义、功能、分类,以及在英汉语篇中的共性与差异。

As a very important part of cohesion in discourse, ellipsis in both the Chinese language and English can be divided into nominal ellipsis, verbal ellipsis and clausal ellipsis, and these divisions also have something in common. However, intrinsic discrepancies in ellipsis exist between Chinese and English because, Chinese differs from English in that Chinese demonstrates paratactic prominence while English hypotactic prominence. Therefore, this article mainly deals with the definitions, functions and classi- fications of ellipsis, as well as the similarities and differences in Chinese and English discourses.
