摘要
西奥多.德莱塞是美国20世纪著名的自然主义作家。1900年发表的《嘉莉妹妹》是其成名作,自然主义始终贯穿整部小说。作者把嘉莉的性格归因于无法摆脱的环境的约束,欲望的控制和"适者生存"的法则制约,从而折射出《嘉莉妹妹》中的自然主义。
Theodore Dresser is a famous American naturalist novelist in the twentieth century.Sister Carrie,which was published in 1900,is his masterpiece.Naturalism runs through the whole novel.The author argues that the character of Carrie can not get rid of the influence of environment,the control of desire and the constraint of the rule of ＂survival of the fittest＂,which could reflect the naturalism in Sister Carrie.
