According to Verschueren＇s adaptation theory,the choice of address terms is more or less guided or monitored by the metapragmatic awareness,which is not only reflected in the speaker＇ s choice of address terms,but also in the interpreter＇s interpretation.With the functioning of human ＂mind in society＂,metapragmatic awareness may show different degrees of salience.Markedness matches metapragmatic awareness in degree and volume.
