Background Ischemia brain injury seriously threatens human life and health. Glutamate plays a major role in the pathogenesis of ischemia brain injury, and the regulation of glutamate concentration on the treatment of ischemic brain injury is important. Objective To find a treatment of ischemia brain injury, we investigate the relationship between brain ischemia injury' and glutamate transporters, and the effect of a variety of pretreatments on glutamate transporters. Content This review summarizes the glutamate transporterJs subtype, distribution, structure and function, and the relationship with ischemic brain injury and the neuroproteetive effect of pretreatments. Trend Non-isehemie pretreatment, such as electroacupuncture pretreatment and hyperbaric oxygen pretreatment of cerebral ischemia, is effective and easy to implement. Glutamate transporters would be one of the protective mechanisms.
