A Rose Gnawed by the Larva"——The Political Poetics of Paul Muldoon

爱尔兰裔当代著名诗人保罗.马尔登的诗作具有鲜明的后现代特征,学界多从其诗歌体式出发探讨其诗作独特的形式技巧,或阐发其诗行中暗含的身份、爱尔兰性等政治主题,却忽视了两者之间的张力。本文拟分析马尔登诗歌中政治性、历史性与作为语言游戏和艺术建构的诗性之间形成的特殊关系,论述两者之间的表现张力和微妙平衡,以解读北爱尔兰政治危机中诗人在诗性和政治性之间所做的诗学协商。

The works of the acclaimed contemporary Northern Irish poet Paul Muldoon evince distinctive postmodernist characteristics.His poems are often approached from the perspective of poetic designs for the exploration of their unique formal techniques or for the explication of their implied political undercurrents such as identity and Irishness,while the tension between these two aspects are rarely touched upon.The present study attempts to analyze the special relationship between the political or the historical strain of his poetry and their poeticness as artistic construct,and to investigate the expressive tension and delicate balance formed between these two features.It sheds light on the negotiation carried out by the poet between the poetical and the political in the turbulent years of Northern Ireland.
