The Abandonment of Da'ning and the Structural Imbalance of the Northern Frontier of Ming Dynasty

靖难之役中朱棣放弃了大宁,并且一直没有恢复。在本文中,作者首先论证了因"酬劳三卫"而放弃大宁的说法缺乏根据;其次探讨军食供应困难是大宁没有恢复的重要原因;接着指出重视权宜之计忽视结构平衡是朱棣边疆政策的主要失误,从而触及到困扰明代北部边疆问题的更深层次。

Zhu Di abandoned Da＇ning in the battle of Jingnan,and the it hadn＇t returned since then.In this paper,the author demonstrated that giving up the Da＇ning due to the policy of ＂reward three weirs＂ lacks basis.Second,the shortage of military food supply is considered as the important reason for the failure of the restoration of Da＇ning.Finally,emphasis on expedient while neglecting the structural balance is a major mistake in Zhu Di＇s border policy,which touches the deeper level in northern border problems which plagued the Ming Dynasty.
