This text gives an introduction on DTV,HTDV and their respective characteristics. With digital technology,DTV has sharper pictures and deeper colors, and “ghosts' and interference are eliminated. With CD-quality sound, the picture of DTV is almost six times sharper than that of todays analog TV. In the future HDTV will replace todays TV. The breakthrough of the five technologies (i.e. IC, digital signal processing, digital compressing, high definition display on wide-screen and PC technology)accelerates the conversion of analog TV to digital TV. Furthermore, the digitization of TV technology provides wider market outlook for ITV, VOD and related services utilizing TV network.
