The nine Specialized High Schools are renowned in New York City. Its recruitment and matriculation are very rigorous since the Specialized High School Admissions Test （SHSAT） is the only criterion for admissions to eight of the New York City Specialized High Schools＇ excepte for the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music ＆ Art and Performing Arts LaGuardia. The running of the Specialized High Schools has outstanding feature. Each school has its preponderant subjects,and offers extensive electives, advanced placement courses,various extracurricular activities. The Specialized High Schools have achieved a lot in education.
