Hardmetals develop from the conventional , submicron to the ultrafine/nanocrystalline stage. Main uses of hardmetals with ultrafine gain size are in the metal, electric, wood, medical and other fields. The recent developments of powder synthesis and the related hardmetals with ultrafine gain size are discussed.
