从《喜福会》看跨文化交际在大学英语教学中的必要性

On the necessity of cross-cultural communication in College English teaching from The Joy Luck Club

《喜福会》描述的是四位华裔女性和她们的从小在美国长大、接受美国教育、被西方思维方式所熏染的女儿们的冲突与最后因爱而融合的感人故事。小说的主题不仅表现的是母女的冲突、沟通与理解,更是通过母女之间的一系列的冲突与交融展现了中西方的不同之处,着重表现了中西文化的差异。随着我国对外开放,交流的日益深入和扩展,跨文化交际策略已经引起了越来越多人的重视。但是,另一方面,虽然跨文化交际越来越受到重视,但是我国外语教学中对学生跨文化交际能力的培养和提高却没有给予关注。本文着重探讨了外语教学中跨文化教学的必要性,同时阐述了如何在具体语境下发展跨文化交际能力。

The Joy Luck Club describes the conflicts and integration of love between four Chinese women and their children who have grown up in the United States. The theme of the novel is about the conflicts, communications and understandings between mothers and their children as well as the difference of the cultures between the West and the East shown through a series of conflicts and blending of the mothers and the children. With China＇s opening up, the deepening and expansion of international exchange, cross-cultural communication strat- egy has attracted more and more people＇s attention;however, foreign language teaching in China has not attached any importance to the cultivation of the students＇ cross-cultural communication ability. This paper focuses on the necessity of cross-cultural teaching in Chinese English teaching and explains how to develop the students＇ cross-cultural communication ability in the specific context.
