随着高校规模的扩张及适龄生源的减少，每个民办高校都要面临如何加强内涵建设，提高办学质量的问题。分析民办高校目前发展存在的生源、经费、师资和科研问题，并从办学方向、教学科研、开源节流、合作共赢、科学管理等方面提出民办高校如何加强内涵建设、提高核心竞争力、应对挑战、持续健康发展的路径选择。

With the expansion in the scale of universities and the decrease in the number of university--aged students, every private university is faced with many problems concerned with strengthening the connotation construction and enhancing the school--run quality. The paper analyses the present problems such as student sources, college expenditure, faculty force and scientific research in the development of private universities. Then it discusses the school- run orientations, teaching and research, increasing income and decreasing expense, and co--operations for both benefits as well as scientific management. Based on the above, the paper finally comes up with path choices of strengthening connotation construction, enhancing core competitiveness in order to face the challenge and keep healthy development.
